On Tuesday, September 9, several members of the SFD traveled to Yaphank to attend the Suffolk Regional EMS Council meeting and to receive the CPR Lifesaving Award presented to the Department for its actions on May 19, 2014 that resulted in the survival of Joseph O'Byrne. Although not all of the SFD members who participated in the call were able to attend the ceremony, certificates and CPR Save pins were awarded to: Chief Killian, Assistant Chief Goldsmith, EMTs Boyd, Drum, Evans, Phelps, Reinckens, Salmon and Assistant Chief Weingart from the Greenport FD. SFD's special guest for the evening was Joe O'Byrne who is doing well and has now given up the moving business for a stint at the deli counter at Southold IGA. Be sure to say hello to Joe when you get your next deli order - he'll be very happy to see you.
